Morning sunlight spills across the ambulance station garage. Arlo The Ambulance flashes a grin while the Nurse climbs into the cab, holding her bright yellow medical bag beside his dashboard eyes.
Arlo the Ambulance started his day with a cheerful honk. "Ready to help!" he said, smiling. The Nurse hopped in with her yellow bag.
On a sunny neighborhood street, Bella lies on the asphalt beside her toppled pink bike, tears on her face. Afternoon light glints off the scratched knee and scattered pebbles.
Down the road, little Bella sang as she rode her bike. Suddenly, her wheel hit a bump. Bella fell and scraped her knee, tears starting to fall.
At the street corner, Arlo The Ambulance races forward with red lights flashing, casting bright patterns on nearby houses. The Nurse points ahead through the windshield toward Bella in the distance.
"Look, Arlo, someone needs us!" said the Nurse. Arlo turned on his lights and zoomed towards Bella. "Here we come!" he called.
Beside the curb under midday sun, Arlo smiles warmly at seated Bella. The Nurse kneels on the grass, speaking gently while opening a small bottle of antiseptic from her yellow bag.
Arlo smiled kindly at Bella. The Nurse knelt down and said, "Don't worry, sweetie, we'll help you." Bella sniffled but tried to smile back.
Outside a suburban house, the Nurse dabs Bella’s knee with cotton and secures a bright cartoon bandage. Bella, still sitting, stretches her arms to hug Arlo’s bumper, sunlight sparkling off the ambulance’s chrome.
The Nurse cleaned Bella's knee gently. She put on a bright bandage and said, "All better!" Bella felt brave and gave Arlo a big hug.
On the same sidewalk in late afternoon light, Bella stands beside her upright bike and waves joyfully. Arlo blinks his big eyes and laughs, while the Nurse smiles from the passenger window.
"Thank you, Arlo!" Bella cheered. Arlo blinked his big eyes and laughed, "Anytime, Bella! Be careful on your bike!"
Near a flower-lined fence, Reuben mid-step trips over a small gray rock and tumbles onto the sidewalk, dusk light casting long shadows. He sits holding his knee, mouth open in a sharp 'O'.
Just then, Reuben skipped along the sidewalk. He wasn’t looking and tripped over a rock. "Ouch!" he shouted, rubbing his knee.
Under streetlamp glow, Arlo The Ambulance rolls up beside Reuben, siren lights painting blue and red streaks on nearby trees. The Nurse leans from the open door, reaching out reassuringly.
"Another friend needs us!" the Nurse told Arlo. Arlo turned his siren on and rolled over to Reuben. "Don’t worry, we are here!"
On the illuminated sidewalk, the Nurse crouches and cleans Reuben’s scrape with a wipe, then presses a yellow smiley-face bandage on. Reuben watches, cheeks puffed with concentration, Arlo parked behind them.
The Nurse knelt and checked Reuben’s knee. "A small scrape," she smiled warmly. She cleaned it and put on a smiley-face bandage.
Beneath soft evening sky, Reuben stands and grins up at Arlo, giving a thumbs-up. Arlo winks one huge eye, headlights glowing warmly, while the Nurse closes her medical bag nearby.
"Thank you!" Reuben grinned and stood up. Arlo winked and said, "Glad to help, Reuben! Watch where you step next time!"
In the quiet cul-de-sac under streetlight halos, Bella and Reuben stand side by side waving excitedly. Arlo and the Nurse wave back from the ambulance doorway, bike and scattered bandage wrappers around them.
Bella and Reuben waved at Arlo and the Nurse. "You’re the best helpers ever!" they cheered. Arlo and the Nurse laughed and waved back.
Against a violet sunset sky, Arlo The Ambulance drives along an empty road toward the city lights, headlights shining ahead. A small 'Goodnight' banner hangs inside his windshield, echoing his wide smile.
The sun set as Arlo drove home. He was happy because he helped his friends. "Goodnight, everyone!" said Arlo, smiling wide.
