Indoors, morning light floods the entryway where Mom kneels by the shoe rack, fastening Prince’s sneakers while Amir smiles in his socks. Prince grips Amir’s hand, both eager for their park adventure.
Hi! I'm Prince. I'm four years old and I love to play! This is my little brother Amir. He's one. Today we're going to the park! Amir claps his hands. "Park! Park!" he says. I hold his hand. "Are you ready, Amir?" I ask. He smiles big. Mom helps us put on our shoes. "Let's go on an adventure!" I say.
Sunlit kitchen counters gleam as Mom hands a blue hat to Prince and a yellow one to Amir. Prince gently settles Amir’s hat, backpack with visible snack zipper resting nearby.
Mom gives us our hats. Mine is blue. Amir's is yellow. "The sun is bright today," Mom says. I help Amir with his hat. "There you go, little buddy!" Amir touches his hat and giggles. I put on my backpack. It has our snacks inside. "Water and crackers," Mom says. "Crackers!" Amir claps again. Now we're ready to go!
On the front porch steps beneath a bright morning sky, Prince points at drifting clouds while Amir laughs, clutching Mom’s steady hand. Birds perch in leafy trees framing the doorway.
We walk out the front door. The sun feels warm and nice. "Look, Amir! Blue sky!" I point up high. Amir looks up and laughs. Birds are singing in the trees. "Tweet tweet," I say to Amir. He tries to copy me. "Tee tee!" We walk down the steps carefully. Mom holds Amir's other hand. Our adventure has started!
Sidewalk outside Mrs. Garcia’s flower-filled yard under midday sun; red blossoms crowd a white fence where a fuzzy cat balances. Prince shows Amir the flowers as Amir excitedly points at the retreating cat.
We walk past Mrs. Garcia's house. Her flowers are so pretty! "Red flowers!" I tell Amir. He points at them. "Fow-er!" he says. I'm teaching him new words. We see a fuzzy cat on a fence. "Meow," says the cat. Amir gets excited. "Kitty! Kitty!" he shouts. The cat runs away. We keep walking toward the park.
At the street-corner oak on a sunny afternoon, golden light filters through branches while leaves drift down. Prince catches a single green leaf, holding it out for Amir, who crunches it happily between tiny fingers.
There's a huge tree on the corner. "That tree is so tall!" I say. Amir looks up and up and up. Some leaves fall down. I catch one! "Look, Amir, a green leaf!" I show him. He grabs it with his little fingers. The leaf crinkles. Amir laughs at the crunchy sound. I love making him happy. Almost to the park now!
Urban intersection in bright daylight: pedestrian signal glowing green above the crosswalk. Mom, Prince, and Amir stand mid-street holding hands tightly, eyes forward, as empty lanes stretch on either side.
We reach the big street. "Stop," Mom says. We all stop at the corner. "We look left and right," I tell Amir. I'm a good big brother. No cars are coming. The light turns green for us. "Now we can cross!" Mom says. We walk across together, holding hands tight. I can see the park now! It's right there!
At the park’s shiny green gate beneath clear afternoon sky, Prince throws his arms up while Amir bounces excitedly beside him. Swings, slides, and a sandbox beckon in the colorful background.
We reach the park gate! It's green and shiny. "We're here, Amir!" I cheer. Amir bounces up and down. He's so excited! Through the gate, I see swings and slides. I see the sandbox too! "What should we do first?" I ask. Amir points at everything. "Yes! Yes!" he says. Mom laughs at us. Time to play!
Playground baby swing glints under warm daylight; Amir sits snugly inside, giggling, while Prince stands behind, hands gently pushing the seat forward. Mom watches nearby with a proud smile.
We walk to the playground. There are so many fun things! "Do you want to swing, Amir?" I ask. Mom puts Amir in the baby swing. I push him very gently. "Wheee!" Amir giggles. He swings back and forth. "Higher?" I ask. "Higher!" Amir says. Mom helps me push a little more. Amir is having so much fun!
Red slide curves beneath clear sky; Mom holds Amir on her lap as they descend together, hair and scarves flowing. At the slide’s base, Prince cheers with arms raised, ready for their next turn.
Now we go to the slide. It's red and shiny. "I'll go first," I say. I climb up the ladder. Whoosh! Down I go! "Your turn, Amir!" Mom carries Amir up. She holds him on her lap. They slide down together! Amir laughs and laughs. "Again! Again!" he shouts. We slide three more times. This is the best day ever!
Park bench shaded by a leafy tree in late afternoon; Prince opens a small backpack, handing square crackers to Amir. Water bottle and sippy cup sit between them on the wooden seat.
Mom says it's snack time now. We sit on a bench under a tree. I open our backpack. "Crackers for Prince," Mom says. "Crackers for Amir!" I help give Amir his crackers. He eats them slowly. I drink my water. Amir drinks from his sippy cup. "Yummy!" I say. Amir nods and smiles. The crackers give us more energy to play!
Near the swings at dusk-lit playground, Prince waves energetically to a little girl holding her father’s hand as they pass. Amir stands beside the bench, giving a shy bye-bye wave.
A little girl walks by with her dad. "Hi!" I wave to her. "Hi! I'm Prince. This is Amir!" The girl smiles. "I'm playing on the swings," she says. "Us too!" I say. Amir waves bye-bye to her. "Bye!" he says. Making new friends is fun! "You're very friendly, Prince," Mom says. I feel proud and happy inside.
Neighborhood sidewalk bathed in orange sunset glow; Prince clasps Amir’s hand while Mom walks on the other side, smiling softly. Long shadows stretch behind them as they head home from their park day.
The sun is getting lower now. "Time to go home," Mom says. We had so much fun today! I hold Amir's hand again. "Did you like the park, Amir?" He nods his head. "Park!" he says happily. We walk back down our street. I tell Amir about all we did. Tomorrow we can come back. I love our walks together!
