"Wake up, Lily! Today you come to work with me!" Daddy grinned in his blue uniform. Lily jumped out of bed, so excited her socks didn't even match. At the police station, badges shined and radios buzzed. "Will we solve a mystery?" Lily asked. Daddy laughed. "You never know!" Just then, the radio crackled loudly. Lily's eyes went wide. Something was happening already!

"Attention all units," the radio said. "Mrs. Baker's treasure box is missing!" Daddy stood up fast. "That's our neighbor! Let's go help her, Lily." They hopped into the police car, lights flashing red and blue. "Are we detectives now?" Lily asked. "Today, we are," Daddy said with a wink. "Helping people is the best part of my job." Lily buckled her seatbelt, ready for adventure.

Mrs. Baker stood by her garden, wiping her eyes. "My treasure box is gone! It has my mother's old locket inside." Daddy knelt down kindly. "Don't worry, we'll find it." Lily patted her hand. "We'll help you, I promise!" Mrs. Baker pointed to her flower bed. "It was right here this morning, by the roses." Daddy pulled out his notebook. "Let's look for clues."

Daddy and Lily looked carefully around the garden. "Look, footprints!" Lily shouted, pointing at small shoe prints in the dirt. Daddy knelt beside them. "Good eyes, Lily! Small feet... maybe a kid." Lily spotted something shiny near the fence. "A candy wrapper!" she said. Daddy smiled. "That's a great clue. Let's follow the trail and see where it leads us."

The footprints led down the street, past mailboxes and a squeaky swing set. "This way!" Lily called, hurrying along the path. Daddy followed closely, watching for more clues. They found another wrapper stuck in a bush. "Someone really likes candy," Lily giggled. The trail stopped at a big oak tree with a wooden treehouse. "Someone's hiding up there," Daddy whispered.

Daddy called up gently, "Hello? Anyone home?" A boy's head peeked out nervously. "I'm Tommy," he said in a shaky voice. Lily waved. "Did you take Mrs. Baker's box?" Tommy looked down, ashamed. "I just wanted to play pirate and find treasure. I didn't think she'd miss it." Daddy climbed the ladder carefully. "Let's talk about this, Tommy."

Inside the treehouse sat the missing box, shiny locket still inside. "I'm sorry," Tommy said, voice trembling. "I just wanted an adventure like in my pirate books." Daddy nodded gently. "Taking things without asking isn't right, even for pretend games." Lily added softly, "Mrs. Baker was really worried, Tommy." Tommy's eyes filled with tears. "I didn't mean to make her sad."

"Here's what we'll do," Daddy said firmly but kindly. "You'll return the box yourself and tell Mrs. Baker you're sorry." Tommy nodded slowly. "And maybe help in her garden this week, too." Lily smiled. "That sounds fair." Tommy took a deep breath. "Okay, I'll do it." Together they climbed down, box carefully held in Tommy's hands.

Back at Mrs. Baker's house, Tommy held out the box. "I'm really sorry I took this. I won't do it again." Mrs. Baker opened it and smiled, relieved. "Thank you for being honest, Tommy." Daddy placed a hand on Tommy's shoulder. "Making mistakes right takes courage too." Lily grinned proudly. "Case solved!"

The next afternoon, Tommy showed up with gardening gloves. "Ready to help, Mrs. Baker!" She laughed warmly. "Let's start with these roses." Lily and Daddy watched from the sidewalk. "See, Lily? Everyone can learn from mistakes," Daddy said. Lily nodded happily. "Mrs. Baker looks happy again." The garden looked brighter already, flowers blooming in the sun.

Tommy wiped his dirty hands and smiled at Lily. "Thanks for not being mad at me." Lily shrugged kindly. "Everyone makes mistakes sometimes." Daddy ruffled Tommy's hair. "What matters most is making things right." Mrs. Baker handed them lemonade. "You're all good kids," she said warmly. Lily felt proud of their brave little team.

Back at the station, Daddy knelt beside Lily. "You were brave and smart today, finding clues like a real detective." Lily beamed. "We helped Mrs. Baker and taught Tommy something important!" Daddy hugged her tight. "That's what police work is all about—helping others." Lily hugged her badge sticker close. "Best day ever, Daddy!"
